Various possibilities of forms existed before the concept of “art” was established in Japan and genres were subdivided.
Focusing on this concept, I aim for a hybrid expression in my works that incorporates a printmaking way of thinking.
The densely layered images represent longing for “pure beauty” and things that are transformed and created as a result of this pursuit.
Sacred peacock and horse, a dragon god descending from the sky, an innocent girl wrapped in something unknown, and flowers – the symbol of life – scattered across the canvas; They are degraded and distorted by the myriad of poisons of present times, and as they deplete itself, they exist beautifully as sacrifices that lead us to resuscitation.
Born in Tokyo in 1982.
Tokyo University of the Arts, M.F.A. printmaking in 2008.
Held numerous solo exhibitions including at “Art fair Tokyo” in 2016, 2018.
Participated in various group exhibitions including “Ukiyo-e POP – Pop Culture from Edo to Today-” at Shizuoka City Tokaido Hiroshige Museum of Art in 2013; “Mokuhan Zomeki-What happend in Japan?-” at The University Art Museum, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2014; “Hanga Next Generation stage.2” at Nihombashi Takashimaya / Tokyo in 2020.
Won many prizes including the Grand prize at The Adachi Contemporary Ukiyo-e Award 2010; the second prize at SHINSEI Kaiga Award Exhibition 2015.
