Contemporary Japanese Crafts – Reinterpretation, Exquisite Craftsmanship, and Aesthetic Exploration

From the exhibition held last summer at Panasonic Shiodome Museum of Art, we introduce twelve young artists while inheriting and carrying on Japanese aesthetics, including Noritaka Tatehana and Takuro Kuwata, continue their search for creative expression that captures new sensations and aesthetics, freed from the frameworks and constraints of traditional craft.

Yoshida Hiroshi, the artist who fascinated the world. We introduce Yoshida’s masterpieces along with his detailed history from the exhibition which will hold next spring, commemorates the 70th anniversary of his death, and explore the full scope of the print art of Yoshida who  aimed at creating a new type of woodblock print by using realistic representations of the West and traditional Japanese printmaking techniques.
